Lost Weekend

Well, my grand plans for a porch re-newing weekend were dashed with the rain. I did do some work outside, as I did some plant shopping and planting on Saturday. But Sunday's dark stormy day begged for curling up on the sofa and finish reading Life by Keith Richards. Which is just what I did, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. On Saturday we moved stuff around the family room and are now left with a big gap on one wall. I'll post pictures and maybe you can tell me what we should do with it. Oh, as for the pancakes? I'm dying for pancakes today! We might be having a pancake dinner just to satisfy my craving..

Beatles Hello Goodbye

Is it weird that my front porch inspiration picture made me immediately think of The Beatles' Hello Goodbye video? Talk about color inspiration..not to mention snazzy suits.

Front Porch Inspiration

Whew, it has been a long week, but I am happy to say that I am footloose and fancy free this weekend. I think I'll try to knock out our front porch. A pretty front porch makes all the difference, don't you think? I wonder if I can get J to agree to add a little neon green and pink to it. I'm guessing not, but stranger things have happened. What are your plans?

Crewel mushrooms

The fickle goddess of hobbies has shifted my interests again. All of my previously lined-up projects have been pushed back. Crewelwork, I am your slave.

Smocking tutorial

I just ran into this tutorial over on See Kate Sew for smocking, it was written by Danielle from the lovely My Sparkle. I think it would be lovely on skirts, or to do at the top of a simple curtain panel. Go check it out and get smocking!

Coral and Tusk

I saw these Coral and Tusk embroidered dolls on Pinterest and was immediately sold. How beautiful are they? As someone who has been working on some crewel embroidery like a fiend all weekend I'm flabbergasted by the amount of work in these. Gorgeous. And they don't just do sweet dolls, but amazing pillows, wall art, etc. Bravo to you Coral and Tusk!

New Dena Designs fabric

Are you in the mood to make some summer clothes? Or, in my case Roman shades? Because we have the fabric for you! New Dena Designs cotton/linen 54" super soft yummy fabric. J wants the navy ornament for roman shades for our family room, but I'm a little iffy. Maybe I'll throw some pics up and you can tell me what you think. I of course wanted the orange. And e thinks I should make a three piece suit out of the three colors of pinstripes. Actually, wouldn't that be amazing? I could get into that..

Owl and Mouse party

Tonight! Go! Have fun!!

Keith Richards

Last Sunday I finally was able to get Keith Richards' autobiography at the library and have been reading it non-stop ever since.

Since my thought process naturally runs from Keith Richards to Johnny Depp (What, doesn't yours?) I thought I would post, for your viewing pleasure, the video for Paul McCartney's new video which features one Mr. Depp and Natalie Portman.

Once again, please note that the store will be closed tomorrow as we will be at the Kaw Valley Quilt show!

Gingko Press

We just opened a couple of boxes from Gingko Press, and I am here to tell you we have some delicious book. Books that have textured covers and shiny paper. Books that smell so good! Here are a few favorites, but there are more where these came from...

Empty Bobbin patterns

Look who came to us in the mail today? New patterns from our friends at Empty Bobbin! Shea has come up with some great new projects for us. And we are excited that two of the quilts are new patterns from our friend Angela Walters! It's a KCquiltin' love fest!

Kate's Lazy Meadow

I've fallen in love and will now have to devote the whole day to vacation planning. Which would be fine if I didn't have 3 classes to teach and a store to take care of. Anyway, has anyone come across Kate's Lazy Meadow? It is a group of cabins and airstreams located in the Catskill mountains and owned by the B-52's singer Kate Pierson. So of course all the cabins are gorgeous, bright, retro and super fun! The challenge would be to choose airstream vs. cabin. Airstream is fun because it's, well an airstream, but the cabins are gorgeous and have amazing 50's kitchens.

Which would you choose?

Kaw Valley Quilt Show

Hey everyone, so this weekend we will be packing up the store and hittin' the road...to the Kaw Valley Quilt Show in Lawrence! Yes, we are moving lock stock and barrel to Lawrence for a couple of days, which means we will be CLOSED this Saturday. If you want to see us, you'll have to track us down at the quilt show.

Modern Bite cookies

I saw these cookies on pinterest. (Are you on pinterest? Of course you are! If you aren't then you should take a look at it, it's fun)Anyway, the moment I saw these cookies from Modern Bite I fell in love. Aren't they gorgeous? The colors, the design...I feel like this is what Mary Blair's cookies would look like if she was a baker. They also do gorgeous cakes, cupcakes etc. but I think the cookies are where it's at. And you can order a gift box full and have them shipped. Wouldn't that be the best gift ever?

George Clooney; total babe?

E and I wandered over to Retronaut's celebrity yearbook the other day..definitely worth your time to look at. I've decided that on the first day of 7th grade every child in American should be given the following combination of pictures. This is hope my friends, hope that someday you will actually grow out of that awkward phase;

Of course not everyone will grow into the incredible swan that is George Clooney, but I think we've all hit that duckling stage.

Viceroy Palm Springs

It's seeing an image like this that makes me want to shake Kelly Wearstler by the hand. And then hope she will adopt me and take me to live in her glamorous world.

Or I could go stay at the Viceroy Palm Springs.

More shoes...

Look what the Easter bunny brought me! Isn't he a genius? They are the perfect blue/green combo and the basket weave heel is gold!

Thanks Easter bunny!

Summer shoes

I tend to be a die-hard high heel wearer. My poor feet are thrust into all sorts of uncomfortable contraptions. But I always try to have one good flat option for each season. My summer flats always get the worst of it..in the summer flats are a little easier for me to throw on. Since last year's flats haven't recovered from the monsoon at the PJ20 concert I thought I better get some new ones.

Hello Cath Kidston, I didn't know you were making adorable slip on tennies. Yes, thank you, that will do perfectly.
I can't wait! I also bought a shower cap. Don't laugh.
